It should be no surprise - we here at Every Day is Christmas have been planning our Christmas decorations for a while now! As always, it’s so much fun to see the decorating styles, colors and combinations are represented in the latest Christmas trends.

Christmas has always been a time to have fun with color and decorate with abandon while expressing your personal style - and this year is no exception! Read on to find out more about some of the hot holiday decorating trends for Christmas 2022.

1 Woodland Natural

Nature inspires woodland Christmas decor. Pine brown and green and deep berry are predominant tones. A woodland theme opens the door for decorations depicting many of nature’s creatures, including deer, squirrels, owls and other forest animals.

2 Blue and Gold

Deep rich blues paired with luxurious warm gold looks set to be another one of the big Christmas Trends 2022.  Expect to see blue & gold offerings across the High Street and online. This timeless elegant color palette aligns perfectly with increasingly popular celestial designs and products.  No need to hold back; it’s time to paint the town blue & gold!

3 Rainbow Brights

Be unashamedly you!

One of the key Christmas trends for 2022 looks set to be vibrant colours and atypical Christmas décor. What a fabulous counter-balance to those darker winter days. After the past few years, it’s obvious why a rainbow bright scheme has jumped to the forefront of themes. Adding playful energy to your best Christmas decorations and making the festive season extra merry, it’s hard not to smile when you see this trend.

4 Lavender

The 2022 Pantone Color of the Year is “Very Peri,” a dusky purple with blue-gray undertones. This opens the door for purple Christmas ornaments in all shades of the spectrum, from romantic lavender to playful plums to deep amethyst and eggplant. Purple ornaments pop on green or flocked trees. Purple Christmas decorations pair well with silver or gold

5 Gingerbread

Christmas 2022 is all about comfort and coziness – and what’s cozier than a Christmas cookie? While the gingerbread theme is a Christmas classic, the look this year is diverse. There are traditional gingerbread men, gingerbread women and gingerbread houses with red, green and white trim.

6 Metallic Luxury

Metallic Christmas ornaments glimmer on their own but also shine brightly mixed with nearly any popular color palette. Try trendy combos like cobalt with silver Christmas ornaments or pink with gold Christmas ornaments. Metals look great off the tree, too, in wreath accents and table top decor.

7 Black and White

Both popular and modern farmhouse decor love black and white design, and today’s black and white Christmas tree decorations do, too. Go bold and dramatic with black velvet bows and glossy black Christmas decorations on a white tree. Add luster with silver or pewter ornaments, clear crystals and white lights. Black and white decor also can be whimsical - think pandas and snowflakes!

8 Pretty Pastels

If you fancy something a little softer, pastel pinks, golds and lilacs are set to be incredibly popular this year. “Pastel decorations are really on-trend right now,” says Charlotte Coleman of Wiltshire Wonderland. She continues: "The great thing about pastel colors is that they all go together, no worrying if the colors work together, they are a perfect match. Pastel colors have a light and airy feel so make your home feel brighter, even in the winter, they also mix well with stronger colors if desired, such as brighter pinks and purples."

9 Foodie Figurines

Deck the halls with boughs of holly…or avocado and bacon and eggs! Spread holiday cheer with delicious looking food ornaments that are on trend this year!

10 Winter Faire

Inspired by a family stroll around a winter faire, this beautiful trend features a frosted color palette, high-shine metallics and highlights of traditional festive red. From walking around market stalls to riding fairground rides, you'll find decorations that will transport you to your favorite Christmas market.

11 Night Life

Loud, bright, bold and excitingly fun: this trend is Christmas like you've never seen it before. Reflecting the glitz and glamour of a festive night out, Night Life is highly decorative. Ornaments include musical instruments, ballerinas, headphones and dazzling glitter balls.

12 DIY Glitter Bulbs

Basic glass ornaments are the perfect blank slate to DIY this holiday season. Plus, any of these ornaments can be made in any color palette to match any holiday decor.  Your creation can create a very personalized wedding, Valentine's Day, birthday or Christmas gift.

13 Plaid

Plaid is such a charming print that can come in many colors and styles but what I know for sure is that I love red or green plaid at Christmas time it just seems so classic! Plaid is going to be seen lots and lots this Winter. Don’t be afraid to mix in different patterns or colors!

14 Pickle Ornament

Of course, no foodie ornament roundup is complete without a pickle. Though hiding a pickle ornament on your tree is an old German tradition—and can bring good fortune to whoever finds it—there’s no denying it’s also a great decoration for anyone who loves a good gherkin.

15 Winter Wonderland Glam

Dreaming of a white Christmas? Fill your fir with snow branches, gold and cream ribbon, silver and white ornaments, and plenty of seasonal bling.
